Our products do not contain hormones.
One of our active ingredients is Dechloro Dihydroxy Difluoro Ethylcloprostenolamide (0,0014%) which is a prostaglandin analogue. This ingredient can be found from the EU cosmetic ingredients database (CosIng) as an ingredient that can be used in cosmetics. Its function is to condition the hair. We are utilising this conditioning action to support natural lash growth.
Prostaglandins and their analogues are not hormones. They are natural lipids present in almost all tissues in the human body. They have a short half-life and in cosmetics, our active acts locally to condition hair where the product is applied before being inactivated and excreted by the body.
The body has several tissues that can make prostaglandins. Unlike hormones, which are released by a gland and carried through the body in the bloodstream, they’re produced in the area of the body where they’re needed. In other words, they act as messengers but do not move to other sites.
It’s often referred that prostaglandins have hormone-like effects which can cause a misunderstanding that they would be actual hormones. This only means that prostaglandins influence reactions in the body when they’re present. In our formula, this also means that the active ingredient acts only locally on the area where the product has been used and supports the hair growth with its conditioning effect.
All ingredients used in Xlash have been accepted by EU legislation to be used in a cosmetic product. Their safety in this formula has been evaluated and confirmed.
